Tired of getting your 25 year old Arizona military vehicle tested for emissions in Maricopa county? Have your insurance agent inform the MVD that it's a "collectible vehicle"

First confirm your insurance agent will write you a letter stating that your vehicle is a "collectible vehicle". Then you need to get that letter to the Motor Vehicle Division.

Hard way:

Take that hard copy original letter to one of the big room MVD places and present it to a counter clerk to update the registration of your vehicle.

Easier Way:

My agent did everything for me. She contacted the main number, 602-255-0072 and pressed 0 to speak directly to a level 1 clerk. Then asked to be forwarded to the mandatory insurance department. There she discussed the vehicle with a level 2 clerk and then faxed that clerk a copy of the letter (602-712-3288). My insurance agent called MVD back about 30 minutes latter to confirm the fax arrived and the vehicle registration was updated to be exempt from emission testing. I was then able to use the Service Arizona website to pay my taxes with no testing.

These quickly scanned documents are in reference to licensing your Arizona  military vehicle. You could be paying too much and may be applicible for a historical plate. This may also effect your need for a CDL with the heavy trucks. Click on the pictures to open a larger image.
